Rich was born on July 26, 1992. His love of baseball began at the time he learned to walk. He couldn’t wait to hit balls off of the tee, slide into bases (pillows on the living room floor) and watch endless innings of baseball on television. As soon as he was enrolled in school, he was eligible to sign up for T-ball. His very first game he slid headfirst into home plate which was frowned upon, but he loved it. This passion carried on through his time in Little League, All- Stars and travel baseball. Rich loved playing center field in high school and was honored to be on the SWFL High School All Star team. He played at Northwood University and was recognized as Player of the Year. Rich’s love of sports was a family affair. He had a plan with his dad to visit every MLB baseball stadium in the USA. They were able to check off quite a few. He and his brother Matt loved to wrestle in the house and toss the football in the backyard. Rich rarely missed a rugby game or wrestling match that Matt had. Throughout Rich’s short life he was able to form many lasting friendships because of his love of sports. We are honored to carry that passion on through the Richard E Dahn III Memorial Scholarship Fund. Our goal is to honor athletes who share his passion and respect for the game.
